Geophysical techniques and remotely operated vehicles were used to map coral reef communities and their extent beyond 20m depths. Mesophotic coral ecosystems in the Philippines are scarcely studied but with climate change and other anthropogenic impacts decimating our shallow reefs, the roles of these deeper ecosystems cannot to be disregarded.
