Uplifted reefs such as those found along the coast of Currimao, Ilocos Norte and Pamilacan Island, Bohol indicate sea levels higher than present.  These sites could be tectonically active however and the understanding of how they came about allows us to look at the rates of uplift as well as the rate of change of the mean sea level.
